A Southall minicab driver pleads guilty to manslaughter of local business man in June 2007.

Local businessman, Mr Ahmed Shah of West End Road, Southall was stabbed to death near his home on Tuesday 5th June 2007.

The attack was initiated by throwing chilli powder in the face followed by multiple stabs from a very large knife.

Mr Mohammed Habib, 40, a minicab driver from Southall, wore a dark camouflage pattern balaclava and a boiler suit during the attack.

He went on the run and Police launched a nationwide search for him. He was eventually arrested in Edinburgh. He appeared at Hendon magistrate’s court on Monday 9th July 2007 and was charged with killing.

Last month, at the Old Bailey he denied murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the basis of diminished responsibility.

The prosecution has accepted his plea as he “was suffering from paranoid psychosis at the time of the killing.

Psychiatrists will carry out further assessment to decide if hospital treatment is suitable.

He will be sentenced on Thursday 17 July 2008.
