Inzamam comes to Southall

Wed 18 Jun 2008
Some lucky people spent 2 hours in the company of the former Pakistan international cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq at Chaudhry’s TKC in Southall.

Inzamam captained Pakistan in 25 Tests from 2003 to 2007 and is one of the leading cricketers in the world.

He arrived after 8 pm dressed in the traditional salwaar kameez and prayer cap. After being greeted by the host Dalawar Chaudhry and others inivited guest, his first action was to offer the Asr prayer.

This was followed by a brief interview with Geo News.

This was a slim and humble Inzamam, who had just travelled from Glasgow, having just completed his 40 days with the jamat. He had a firm handshake and was in a happy and relaxed mood .

He signed autographs for youngsters and VisitSouthal.com reporters. He had his photos taken with the fans and was happy to oblige.

He said that during his time as captain, he had an inexperienced side. The current team is more experienced but needs better management and that discipline affects performance on the field.

Asked about lack of heroes in the current side, he said that the younsters of today will be the heroes of tomorrow.

In answer to another question, he said that a team should not heavily rely on or or two players/bowlers.

After enjoying a meal with the invited guests, he prayed the Maghrob namaz before he left at 10.20 pm.

Tomorrow, he is playing in a Celebrity Cricket Match in Slough.
