People in Southall notice the difference!

Sun 22 Jun 2008
Can you really notice any differences to the state of Southall?

Southall has been under Conservative administration for 2 years. Residents can easily tell that the illegal money making box junctions were resurfaced and painted last year but they see no visible difference to the state of the roads around Southall Broadway.

There was a visible street cleaning programme a while back but that is less visible at present. Residents are only too aware of the fact stated by Councillor Jason Stacey, Leader of Council, that “Southall had the dirtiest streets in the dirtiest Borough in London.”

But residents would find it hard to believe that Southall has the “cleanest streets” anywhere and cleaner than the rest of Ealing.

The streets may be cleaner than before but nowhere near the cleanest. You only have to visit the heart of Southall to know that.

We are told that after years of neglect by Labour, 30 Southall roads and footpaths have been prioritised for resurfacing for 2008/9.

Looking at the list, it is clear that roads and pavement around Southall Broadway will still remain in a state of neglect and disrepair.
