Hundreds of shoppers rushed to the Lidl superstore to grab some bargains on the opening of the supermarket.

Large queues developed at the 8am opening of the superstore in South Road, Southall, due to lots of special offers including discounted TVs, clothing and other electrical products.

This resulted in the security guards closing the main doors of the shop in Southall.

There were reports that that some customers suffered minor injuries in scuffles outside the superstore.

However, a Lidl spokesman was unaware of any scuffles. He said that the doors were temporarily closed to limit the numbers of customers in the store

The opening of Lidl, which offers no-frills cheap shopping, will be welcomed by Southall residents who have to travel outside for most of their shopping.
