Vicious assault on Southall Broadway
Mon 10 Nov 2008The brother in law of Dalawar Chaudhry (Chaudhry’s TKC on Southall) was horrifically beaten up in front of his wife and three year old daughter.
The incident took place on Saturday at 12.30 pm on the busy junction off Lady Margaret Road and Southall Broadway.
The assault took place in front of many witnesses who can testify that this attack was random and unprovoked and CCTV footage is available to confirm this.
The police was called by the victim’s wife and luckily the plaintiff was arrested and taken to Acton Police Station.
The police and ambulance service were very helpful and Dalawar Chaudhry would like to "thank them for supporting my family through this ordeal."
However, it is his understanding that it is very likely that the plaintiff is likely to get off with a caution. He said "I find this very sad as I know if a police officer was beaten up like this his case would be taken to court and a custodial sentence would be served."
"This is exactly the kind of outrageous incidents that I have been campaigning against in order to make Southall a safer community to live in."
"Having been born and bred in Southall I can easily say that crime is on the increase as I witness more and more crime everyday. Drugs and alcohol usage is on the increase which contributes to aggressive assaults everyday."
"As a result there are many aggressive beggars on the prowl networking on the Broadway."
"I have said this before and will say this again that there needs to be more police presence on the Broadway to make such incidents less frequent."
Would any law abiding citizen find it acceptable that some one who carry out a vicious unprovoked attack on a person (in front of his family and children in front of many witnesses) is given a mere caution.
Finding the thug responsible is not easy or possible in most case but to let him off with a caution is outrageous. It also seriously erodes trust in the Police and the system as a whole.
You are more harshly dealt with if your chid drops her ice cream on the floor. "Pick it up or I will fine you" says the Hounslow Council official.
Decent law abiding citizens do not expect but demand some common sense and justice. If you have a local news story, share it with the rest of Southall, by using the contact form.
