Former Southall councillor dies
Sun 23 Nov 2008Ram Kishan Pardesi passed away on Wednesday, 12th November 2008, aged 73.
He was elected as a Labour councillor in the Northcote ward in 1990 and continued (in the new Southall Broadway ward) until his retirement in 2006.
In June 2007, he was made an Honorary Aldermen of the borough, in recognition of his service to the Council and the borough’s residents.
He qualified for the honour of Honorary Alderman by serving four (consecutive) terms as councillor.
He was a school governor for the Blair Peach School and Tudor Primary for several years.
Mr Pardesi was he was a founder and member of the Shree Ravi Dass Gurdwara and one of the first members of the Indian Workers Association (IWA) based in Southall.
His funeral will take place on Monday, 24th November 2008. The cortege will leave Ruskin Road, Southall at 11.10 am, arriving at the Shree Ravi Dass Gurdwara at 12.00 noon.
