Rapper role model to visit Ealing high schools

Sun 08 Feb 2009
A former high-profile gangster rapper is set to help young people in Ealing march to a different beat.

Mutah Beale, sold millions of records with American hip hop group ‘The Outlawz’, before turning his back on the gangster lifestyle. This week he will be visiting Ealing high schools to promote an anti-violence message.

His talks will warn young people of the dangers of glamourising gang culture, drawing on his personal experience of losing friends to violence.

Cabinet Member for Safer Communities, Councillor Vlod Barchuk, said: "By drawing on his own compelling life story, Mutah Beale is able to connect with young people and deliver a positive, powerful message."

"He has worked successfully with young people across London and we expect his programme in Ealing will be equally engaging."

"Keeping our community safe for all residents – including young people – is a top priority for us and we will continue to support positive measures to promote that."

Mutah Beale will deliver talks at Acton High School, Greenford High School, Villiers High School and West London Academy this week.

On Thursday February 12 at 7 pm, a session at Greenford Town Hall, will be open to the public.

He has in the past done his talks at the Ealing mosque and the Central Jamia Mosque on Montague Road in Southall.
