Happy week for Muslims of Southall

Sat 14 Mar 2009
There were more two reasons for Muslims of Southall to celebrate this week.

Earlier this week Muslims celebrated Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of the prophet Mohammed. A celebration march and gathering will take place on March 22.

On Wednesday, the AbuBakr mosque on Southall Broadway was granted planning permission to enhance the existing building.

Part of the plan is to change the existing exterior which look of an "old social security building" into a clearly visible outstanding mosque structure.

Such was the joy of businesses nearby that handed out sweets to everyone that attended the Friday prayers.

Among them, Chaudhry’s TKC made 200 kg of fresh Jalebis for the worshippers.

There was more good news as well.

This weekend Pakistan embassy officials will be present at the AbuBakr mosque to handle applications for NICOP (National Identification Cards for Overseas Pakistanis) cards.

Amir Khan is fighting Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera tonight in Manchester.

Chaudhry’s TKC is busy making preparations to show the fight at their restaurant.
