Southall street improvements

Thu 30 Apr 2009
Southall residents will get a say on the future appearance of key local streets.

Around 6000 surveys are being distributed to residents and businesses, seeking ideas on how sections of Southall High Street and South Road can be improved.

The improvements are of Ealing Council’s £15million regeneration programme, which will see investment in town and neighbourhood centres across the borough.

Southall has been allocated £1.9million to fund a range of local initiatives including road safety and paving upgrades, new hanging baskets, festive lights and a shop front improvement scheme.

Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, Councillor David Millican, said: "The council is breathing new life into the borough with a £15million investment in town centres."

"In Southall, residents can expect a significant revamp of the Broadway and surrounding area, with work already underway in many places. This includes recent improvements at Pocket Park and a car park study to identify potential parking spaces in Southall."

"We want local residents and businesses to be proud of their town centre and – through this survey – also have the opportunity to help shape its future."
