Southall celebrates Pakistan win
Mon 22 Jun 2009
The local fans were singing and dancing for hours. Those not singing and dancing were happy to be spectators. They gathered included the young and old, men and women.
It was only later at night that the mood got nastier, with the arrival of fans from outside Southall.
Industrial fireworks were set off in the heart of Southall, in close proximity to people and property. This was described as "plain stupid" by the Police. A number of local residents going about their business were set upon by the crowd.
When the Police intervened, bricks and other missiles were thrown at them by "small minority who always want to fight".
Two people were arrested.
