Nagar Kirtan in Southall
Fri 12 Nov 2010Thousands of Sikhs in Southall will take part in the annual Nagar Kirtan (procession) on Sunday celebrating the Parkash Ustav (Birthday) of Guru Nanak.
The procession usually commences around noon from the Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Havelock Road, Southall - the largest Sikh temple in Europe.
It then proceeds through King Street, South Road, High Street, Uxbridge Rd and Green Drive.
The procession finishes at the Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Park Avenue, Southall around 4 pm.
All along the route, there are stalls offering free food and drink to all. Even the car drivers passing through are given food parcels.
The Police advise against travelling through Southall on such occasions.
Update:
The cold weather or rain does not deter anyone from taking part or watching the procession.
