Milad-un-Nabi Celebration in Southall

Muslims in Southall celebrated the Prophets birthday - the Muslim Festival of Milad-un-Nabi - the 25th consecutive year it has been held in Southall.

The actual birthday was on Tuesday 15th February 2011 and this event took place on Sunday 6th March 2011. It started at the Jamia Mosque in Townsend Road around 1 pm.

The procession started outside mosque at around 2 pm, after the Zohr prayers.

It proceeded along the Broadway, South Road, Beaconsfield Road and returned to the Jamia mosque in Townsend Road around 3 pm.

A few short speeches were made outside the mosque because it was not possible to find a large enough venue.

This year it was the turn of the men to receive free Umra tickets. Anyone adult male present with the name name of Abdullah, whether only 1 or as many as twenty, were offered a free Umra ticket.
