Pakistan India Semi -Final brings streets of Southall to a halt

The normally congested Southall Broadway was bought to a standstill by Indian cricket fans celebrating on the road.

After the match colourful fireworks could be seen above the Broadway. There was dancing and screaming with joy by lots of fans.

The celebrations started around 6pm and some shops had their shutters down in case of any trouble.

The Punjabi Masala restaurant on Southall Broadway, opposite McDonald’s, were providing a DJ service to the gathered crowd.

They were celebrating on the pavement, the roads and in their cars. Some revellers could be seen opening cans of beer.

The police were out in force having a tough time in getting the youths off the roads.

Such was the interest in the match that adults took time off work and some children missed school just to watch the game.
