Can you build Spikesbridge Park pavilion?

Mon 30 Jan 2012
Ealing Council will start looking for a building company to start work on Spikesbridge Park’s new pavilion next month.

Last year it decided to transform the park with plans to build a new sports pavilion with changing rooms, improve the football pitches and install new cricket facilities.

The parks team has secured £195,000 from the Playsport London Facility Fund and £150,000 from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund, in addition to the £100,000 from the London Marathon Charitable Trust awarded last year.

Last week the council’s cabinet agreed to look for contractors to submit proposals to build the pavilion.

The council is already working in partnership with two charities, London Tigers, an Asian football project and local community organisation, Southall Community Alliance, to deliver the sports projects and activities once the building work is complete.

Councillor Julian Bell, Leader of the council, said: "We are fully committed to improving the sports and recreation provisions in Spikesbridge Park. We still have a way to go, but we are definitely on the right path."

Ealing Council will be starting work on site to build the new sports and community facility in the summer.
