Frosty reception for ice cream parlour

Mr Balal Aqil, owner of Creams ice-cream parlour at 154 Southall Broadway, pleaded guilty to six offences.
He failed to prevent his staff dumping sacks of rubbish on the pavement outside the business in November 2011.
The ice-cream parlour staff were caught on CCTV fly-tipping on six occasions. The company had previously purchased pre-paid commercial waste sacks from Ealing Council.
Creams Southall Limited was fined £900 and ordered to pay the council’s costs of £718.15. The total fine of £1,633.15 also includes a victim surcharge of £15.
Surbir Singh Arora, the owner of Harsh off-licence at 428 Lady Margaret Road pleaded guilty to four fly-tipping offences. Mr Arora was fined £800 and ordered to pay the council’s full costs of £999. The total fine of £1,814 also includes a victim surcharge of £15.
Mr Arora was caught on CCTV driving a van to dump black plastic sacks and empty cardboard boxes on the pavement beside a recycling bank on Lady Margaret Road four times in September 2011.
Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for Transport and Environment said: "Fly-tipping is completely unacceptable and leaves taxpayers to pick up the bill for clearing up other people’s mess."
