Milad-un-Nabi Celebration in Southall

Muslims in Southall celebrated the Prophets birthday - the Muslim Festival of Milad-un-Nabi - the 26th consecutive year it has been held in Southall.

The actual birthday was on Saturday 4th February 2012 and this event took place on Sunday 19th February 2012. It started at the Jamia Mosque in Townsend Road around 1 pm.

The procession started outside mosque at just before 2 pm, after the Zohr prayers.

It proceeded along the Broadway, South Road, Beaconsfield Road and returned to the Jamia mosque in Townsend Road around 3 pm.

A few short speeches were made outside the mosque because it was not possible to find a large enough venue.

This year it was the turn of all Muslim police officers present to be offered free Umra tickets by Sarfraz Khan.
