The Friends of Southall Park with the help of the Southall Community Alliance organised a summer picnic on Sunday for the people of Southall to get together.

Although the weather was not warm and there was a continual threat of rain all day, the event in Southall Park was well attended by hundreds of people of all ages and backgrounds.

The guest of honour was the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor John Gallagher and the Mayoress of Ealing, Mrs Pauline Melson.

Also present were the deputy Mayor, Councillor Mohammed Aslam and Deputy Mayoress Mrs Aslam.

The aim of the picnic was to get all the different communities of Southall together, as one, and informally discuss how they felt Southall can change, and also talk about the positives for a change.

The event was not just about adults talking and eating food. There were activity tables for children, a sing-a-long and people playing instruments.
