Dominion Centre undertakes major transformation
Thu 01 Aug 2013The new look Dominion Centre will include Southall Library, services for people with disabilities and a community centre offering more space for local groups to meet and host events or activities.
It will include a new extension, café and learning room for adult education sessions. There will also be space for activities such as IT and exercise classes, including specific sessions for adults and children with learning and physical disabilities.
The existing hall, meeting rooms and reception area will be refurbished and the lift will be updated and brought back into use.
Parking will be available for centre users with a dedicated drop off and pick up area to provide ease of access for visitors.
There will be self-service units in the library and also in the reception area where a selection of top titles will be available for borrowing when the main library is closed. The existing Southall Library will remain open until the transfer of its services begins in spring 2014.
Ealing Council leader, Julian Bell said: "This is the latest step in our multi-million pound regeneration of Southall. It is an exciting opportunity to create a first class community centre and library."

Cabinet member for community services and safety, Councillor Ranjit Dheer, said: "This demonstrates our commitment to investing in our libraries. Residents will benefit from Southall Library’s new home being in a more prominent, accessible location and being able to borrow books at more flexible times."
