Looking for the next female footy stars
Wed 18 Sep 2013The drop-in sessions take place every Wednesday during term time between 4 - 6pm. Everyone, from experienced players to absolute beginners, is welcome to come along. If there is enough interest, the centre plans to form a girls’ team, join a league and play regular matches.
The centre started an under 14’s boy’s football team last year that finished their season by winning their division of the Harrow Sunday Football league. Boys starting year 9 or 10 can try out for the team every Saturday from 12 - 3pm
The Young Adult Centre is run by Ealing Council's youth and connexions service. It is located in Park View Road, Southall, near Southall Park. It is a safe and welcoming place for young people to meet, take part in activities and learn new skills. It has a gym, IT facilities and a sound recording studio. It also organises games, trips and discussion groups.
Councillor Jasbir Anand, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "After the boys’ team's fantastic win last season, I’m looking forward to seeing what the girls can do. The football sessions are open to all girls and they can drop in unannounced."
"I hope that lots of girls will come along and see if it’s for them, even if they haven’t visited the Young Adult Centre before. I’m looking forward to adding another trophy to our collection."
