Repeated illegal dumping by chicken shop
Thu 28 Nov 2013Mr Raja Hussain, owner of Sam’s Chicken, 20 South Road, Southall, appeared at Ealing Magistrates Court on Thursday, 22 November 2013.
He was found guilty of seven charges of failing to prevent illegal disposal of waste from commercial premises and fined £1,750.
He was also ordered to pay £1,192.52 in council costs, and a £120 victim surcharge, bringing the total owed to £3,062.52.
Staff from Sam’s Chicken were caught on CCTV cameras dumping 35 bags of waste on the footpath outside the shop on seven nights in April and May 2013.
The owner was convicted for similar fly-tipping offences in October 2011.
Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for environment and transport, said: "It is astounding that someone who has already been caught fly-tipping had the cheek to dump more bags of waste on the footpath outside his shop."
"This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated, and we will continue to investigate and prosecute irresponsible owners and businesses who break the law regarding waste disposal."If you have a local news story, share it with the rest of Southall, by using the contact form.
