Milad-un-Nabi Celebration in Southall

Muslims in Southall celebrated the Prophets birthday - the Muslim Festival of Milad-un-Nabi - the 28th consecutive year it has been held in Southall.

The actual birthday was on Tuesday 14th January 2014 and this event took place on Sunday 26th January 2014.

The procession started outside Jamia Mosque in Townsend Road just before 2 pm, after the Zohr prayers.

It proceeded along Beaconsfield Road, South Road, the Broadway and returned to the Jamia mosque in Townsend Road around 4 pm.

It was a well attended events even though rain was forecast for the afternoon. It started to drizzle at the start of the event, was followed by rain and later on the weather improved.

A few short speeches were made outside the mosque because it was not possible to find a large enough venue and building work is currently being carried out at the mosque.

At the end of the event free Umra tickets were offered by Sarfraz Khan of Weaver Rose Accountants/Solicitors/Estate Agents.

This year they were offered to any number women who were named after Hazrat Hajra, wife of Prophet Ibrahim (Abrahim) and mother of Hazrat Ismeal.
