Two restaurants and a bakery in Southall have been ordered to pay thousands of pounds in fines and costs after staff were caught on CCTV dumping rubbish on the pavement.

The three cases were heard at Ealing Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 4 September 2014 and the culprits were ordered to pay more than £6,800 for fly-tipping offences.

They were sentenced as follows:

Chicken Corporation Ltd trading as XFC, a fast-food takeaway on The Broadway, was fined £1,760 in absence and ordered to pay £537.59 in costs and a £120 victim surcharge, totalling £2,417.59.

Mr Mahamad Abdirazak who operates Golis, a Somalian restaurant on Featherstone Road, pleaded guilty and was fined £2,000 and ordered to pay £449.64 in costs and a victim surcharge of £120, totalling £2,569.64.

Punjab Naans Ltd, a naan bakery on Dudley Road, pleaded guilty and was fined £1,360 and ordered to pay £452.71 in costs along with a victim surcharge of £120, totalling £1,932.71.

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for transport and environment, said: "Fly-tipping is illegal and unwelcome in our borough. Each bag of rubbish costs the council a lot of money to collect and in some of these cases staff were filmed dumping up to 22 bags of rubbish on the pavement."

"There are no excuses for this behaviour and all of these businesses were given advice and warnings from Ealing Council as to how to properly dispose of their business waste."
