Resident complaints close down crack house
Wed 29 Oct 2014Officers visited the property on a number of occasions and found evidence of drug taking, discarded drugs paraphernalia and on one occasion found someone injecting themselves with Heroin. Local residents had also reported discarded needles, used condoms and broken crack pipes in the area around the garage.
Ealing Magistrates’ Court approved a three month premises closure for the property in Regina Road, on Friday, 17 October 2014 after police and council officers received numerous complaints from residents suspecting it was being used as a drugs den. Anyone caught entering the premises will be arrested by the police for breaching the closure order.
Councillor Ranjit Dheer, cabinet member for community services and safety, said: "Residents’ help played a vital role in getting this garage closed down and putting an end to the misery they have been suffering. Drug dealing, taking and the crimes associated with it have no place in our borough and we will continue to work with our police colleagues to help make the borough safer."
PC McCartney-Hewitson (ASB Team), "This is an excellent example where the police and council have worked together to tackle the problems that matter most to residents. I would like to thank residents for their support and encourage others to come forward and tell us about drug related crimes either on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, so we can take joint action."
The garage was closed under section 2 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Act, 2003. The court order granted the closure of the property for three months, which is the longest period the court can authorise for.If you have a local news story, share it with the rest of Southall, by using the contact form.
