A six week long initiative, named Operation Sparta, saw Ealing Borough Police Tasking Team target drug dealing and violence, predominantly in the Old Southall.

Working on intelligence gathered and responding to community concerns, the team, consisting of between 10-12 officers, was deployed on eight separate occasions between Monday, 5 January and Wednesday, 18 February 2015.

As a result 12 drug related arrests were made with approximately 400 wraps of class A drugs with an estimated street value of £10,000 and £38,000 in cash being seized.

[A] Balraj Mann, 43 (27/12/71) of Emanuel Road, Acton

On Wednesday, 14 January, at Ealing Magistrates’ Court, he was sentenced to six weeks imprisonment on one count of possession of Class A drugs (heroin) in Oswald Road, Southall on Monday, 12 January 2015.

On Friday, 27 February at Ealing Magistrates’ Court, he was sentenced to ten weeks imprisonment on one count of Battery (on a police constable) in Oswald Road, Southall on Monday, 12 January 2015.

[B] A 21-year-old man awaits trial at Isleworth Crown Court charged with:-

Possession of Class A drugs (cocaine) with intent to supply
Possession of Class A drugs (heroin) with intent to supply
Possession of Class B drugs (cannabis/cannabis resin)

- in Tariq House, Southall on Wednesday 4 February 2015.

[C] Goga Dhillon, 29 (2/2/86), of Milford Road, Southall
On Monday, 16 February 2015 at Ealing Magistrates’ Court, he was fined £125.00 for possession of Class A drugs (heroin) on Monday, 26 January and £125.00 for possession of Class A drugs (crack cocaine) on Tuesday 27 January, both occasions in Clifton Road, Southall. He was also ordered to pay £85.00 costs and a Victim Surcharge of £20.00.

[D] A 36-year-old man was arrested on Monday, 2 February for possession of Class A drugs (heroin) with intent to supply in Endsleigh Road, Southall. He has been bailed to return to a west London police station on a date in late March.

[E] Sarejit Ubhi, 32 (25/1/83), of no fixed abode.
He pleaded guilty at Isleworth Crown Court on Monday, 16 February to possession of Class A drugs (cocaine) in Western Road, Southall on Monday, 2 February. He awaits sentencing on Friday, 10 April.

[F] A 23-year-old man was arrested on Monday, 2 February for possession of Class A drugs (heroin) with intent to supply in Lancaster Road, Southall. He has been bailed to return to a west London police station on a date in late April.

[G] A 21-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, 5 February for being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs (heroin) and for being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs (cannabis) in Honeysuckle Close, Southall. He has been bailed to return to a west London police station on a date in late April.

[H] A 21-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, 5 February for conspiracy to supply of Class A drugs and for being in possession of Class B drugs (cannabis) in Honeysuckle Close, Southall. He has been bailed to return to a west London police station on a date in late April.

[I] Raspal SINGH, 37 19/01/1988, of North Hyde Lane, Hounslow
On Monday, 9 March at Ealing Magistrates’ Court he was conditionally discharged for 24 months for possession of Class A drugs (heroin) on Tuesday, 17 February in Kings Street, Southall. He was also ordered to pay a Victim surcharge of £15.00

Borough Tasking Team Inspector, Gareth Winnard, said: "We have focused on arresting and bringing to justice those who cause harm to our local community. The use and dealing of controlled drugs leads to serious violence and anti-social behaviour. Let me be clear, local officers will continue to target those offenders who cause significant harm to our community and as they change their tactics, we will adapt ours."
