The Labour MP for Ealing Southall, since 1992, Piara Singh Khabra passed away at the age of 82 on 19th June 2007 at Hammersmith Hospital.

He was the first Sikh to become a British MP.

He was the oldest MP sitting in the House of Commons since 2001 and was a member of the constitutional affairs select committee.

He had a good attendance and voting records, but rarely spoke in the chamber.
