Less than two weeks before voters go to the polls in Southall, 5 Labour councillors defect to the Conservative Party.

The 5 councillors are:

• Manjit Singh (Southall Broadway)
• Jagdish Gupta (Southall Broadway)
• Gurcharan Singh (Lady Margaret)
• Maninder Kaur Keith (Lady Margaret)
• Jarnail Singh Jandu (Lady Margaret)

In a joint statement, they said:
"Locally since Conservatives took control of Ealing Council in May 2006 we have noticed that they have been making great strides towards trying to improve the quality of life for all our residents."
"Our goal is to see genuine improvements for our residents."

It is widely accepted that Southall has been neglected for a very long time. Does the blame for this past neglect lie on the previously Labour controlled council or the Southall councillors?

What prevented these Southall councillors from their goal to deliver "genuine improvements for our residents of Southall" in the past, other than their total lack of ability and insincerity?
