Warm welcome at the dementia cafe
Sun 21 Feb 2016The café based at the Michael Flanders Centre in Acton is there to give people a chance to share their experiences and make friends in a relaxed environment. It is open to all people with dementia in the community along with their family and friends.
Centre staff and volunteers who are experienced in supporting people with dementia run the monthly café which will be opened on Sunday, 21 February from 11am to 4pm.
Cabinet member for health and adults’ services, councillor Hitesh Tailor said: "Living with dementia can be isolating and overwhelming, whether you’re the person with the condition or are caring for someone with dementia. Our Forget Me Not café provides somewhere where people can socialise in a welcoming environment, make new friends and find out about services and support available."
Ealing Council’s dementia champion, councillor Penny Jones said: "Having cared for someone with dementia, I know how important it is to have a place like the Forget Me Not café where you can meet people with similar experiences and get practical help and support."
The café is held one Sunday a month and upcoming dates include:
