World famous and most listened to naat khawan Syed Fashihuddin Soharwardi was in Southall on Friday. He was the guest of honour at the weekly function held at the Jamia Masjid in Townsend Road.

The function which started after the Asr prayers, began with naats by the local people. Due to his popularity, the mosque was packed full of worshippers. He recited his famous naats with devotion after the Maghrib prayers. Food was also served before the Isha prayers.

Syed Fashihuddin can recite in 4 languages, Urdu, Punjabi, Persian and Arabic. According to data analysed a few year back, he had recited more than 5000 naats and released almost 160 cassettes, CDs and DVDs.

His most poppular naat is “Hum faqeeron ko Madeenay ki gaali achi lagi”.
His favourite naat is ‘Aey Ishq-e-Nabi meray dil mai bhi sama ja”.
