Southall - house fire

Sat 06 Aug 2016
Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a house fire in Scotts Road, Southall on Thursday night.

Half of the ground floor and the whole of the first floor of the semi-detached property were damaged by fire.

The occupants of the house were alerted to the fire after the smoke alarms sounded.

Four adults and two children left the property before the arrival of the Brigade and there were no reports of any injuries.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "Yet again smoke alarms help saving lives.

“Our advice is to have a working smoke alarm on every level of your home and the safest option is have the alarms linked together. This will give the earliest warning if there is a fire in your home.”

The fire is believed to have been caused by a fault in a consumer unit.

The Brigade was called at 2210 and the fire was under control at 0033. Fire crews from Southall, Hayes and Ealing fire stations attended the scene.
