Commuters beware - Busy Southall road will be closed for EIGHT WEEKS
Wed 31 Aug 2016
A section of high pressure steel gas pipeline, which helps supply the local area, was found to be suffering from corrosion and needs now be repaired.
Work will start on Monday 12 September and is scheduled to last eight weeks.
A signed diversion will be in place in Uxbridge Road and South Road. Access will be maintained for residents, businesses and local facilities.
Engineers are currently carrying out work to the gas mains in Beaconsfield Road, which is closed at the junction of South Road. This closure will be lifted before the other repair work starts.
National Grid Network Engineer Brent Tattam said: “This pipe plays an important part in supplying gas for cooking and heating to the local area.
“During our routine inspections we found it was suffering from corrosion and it now needs to be repaired.”
He added: “Wherever possible we try to consider alternative options or use repair methods which avoid a lot of digging and road closures. However due to the nature of this repair we have no alternative but to dig large excavations and close the road.”
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience these essential repairs may cause and will do all we can to minimise disruption.”
