Official opening – Dane Road Public Toilets

Tue 20 Dec 2016
Opening of the first public toilet facility around the busy Southall Broadway shopping area took place today.

Public toilet provision in Southall has been a long-running issue that many businesses and residents have campaigned on. It has taken a long time but progress has been made.

The official opening of the Dane Road public toilets took place on Tuesday morning at 10:30pm.

The toilets were officially opened by Virendra Sharma MP for Ealing Southall. Ealing Council Leader Julian Bell and Dr Onkar Sahota, Ealing's representative on the Greater London Authority were also present along with many other councillors.

The only Councillors that could not bother to turn up were the actual Southall Broadway ward forum councillors. Hardly surprising as they NEVER bother to turn up for anything EVEN in their OWN ward. Yet some of them STILL want to stand for re-selection.

Due to the very short notice given only a few others individual were present at the official opening.

The 2 public toilets are located on Dane road at the Southall Broadway end. They are on the side of Gourmet of London located at 152 The Broadway.

The automated toilets will be open from 9am to 6pm and will cost 20 pence to use.

Now, all it requires is a sign on Southall Broadway to inform the general public.

Ealing Council leader Julian Bell said he was “very pleased that we’ve been able to get these facilities open to the public in the busy run-up to Christmas”.

He also said “We are also progressing with the plans for new toilet facilities at Herbert Road car park, and hope to begin construction in the New Year.” These are expected to open in April 2017.
