Press Briefing from Southall community
Thu 04 May 2017The meeting on Wednesday 3rd May 2017 was arranged at very short notice to coincide with Ealing Southall MP Virendra Sharma’s campaign launch on The Green, Southall.
The members of different faith groups stated Virendra Sharma should NOT be making these types of statements. They are united in opposition to them.
On the 19th of January 2017 Mr Virendra Sharma MP was taking part in a debate moved by David Nuttall MP from Bury North, he said that "this House notes the escalation in violence of International human rights on the Indian side of the Line Of Control in Kashmir; calls on the Government to raise this matter to the United Nations;
"and further calls on the Government to encourage Pakistan and India to commence peace negotiations to establish a long term solution on the future governance of Kashmir based on the right of the Kashmiri people to determine their own future in accordance with the provisions of UN Security Council resolutions".
Mr Sharma justified Indian Government action and blamed Pakistan, he said the most hurtful things to the whole Pakistani and Kashmiri Community. The fair minded people from other communities are condemning his choice of words and they are asking how can you accuse one country of sponsoring terror when half of the world is suffering from this evil.
Pakistan itself is the biggest victim of terrorism. It has lost 73,000 Civilian and soldiers. 130 young innocent children were tortured and killed in school, over 100 killed in Marriot Hotel in Islamabad and many more.
Mr Virendra Sharma calling the whole nation as terrorist, is insult to everyone living in Kashmir and Pakistan, he must withdraw his hurtful remarks.
He said "The National Human Right Commission of India has freely criticised and called for punishment when the rule of law has not been upheld to a rigorous standard. That is not a level of freedom not allowed to those residents in Pakistan, which recognised as the world's leading sponsor of terrorism"
The whole Kashmiri and Pakistani Community asks the Labour Party to disown the remarks of Virendra Sharma. He should be made to explain his reasoning and provide evidence to support his statement or he withdraw his remarks in front of the cameras in Southall.
If he doesn't do neither and the Labour Party don't expel him than it becomes a NATIONAL ISSUE.
